Why I’m moving to Puerto Vallarta!

Hey guys!

Thanks for taking the time to read this! I’m headed to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in approximately 4 weeks and I am so excited. My boyfriend and I were considering a lot of different places to go to for awhile and I was drawn to Mexico because of a trip I had taken there early last year to Playa del Carmen.

I absolutely loved Playa del Carmen, it’s a cool town that’s about 40 minutes from Cancun airport. I took a teaching course there and met some really incredible people. It is definitely a tourist town but at the same time you can go further from the main area and find local places to explore. It’s not just the good weather or beaches that I love, but also the culture and how laid back and friendly Mexicans are. I love the salsa music, the tacos and the sub culture of healthy living and yoga. Although I loved Playa del Carmen, I was looking to spend time in a different place and explore a different part of Mexico.

The biggest factors were flight and rental prices. Cancun and Puerto Vallarta are the most accessible airports near the ocean for my boyfriend and I, he’s coming from England so this is really important for us. Also, we wanted a city that has plenty of rental options so we can find the best place for us. From what I have read, Puerto Vallarta has more distinct Mexican culture than Cancun and it is also very beautiful because of the mountains and architecture. Mexico is also great to visit because you automatically get a six month on arrival visa, so there’s no rush to leave. That, coupled with the great surf and possibility of whale watching, were why I chose it.

While I’m there I will post regularly to provide some tips and insights about the area. Comment below if you have any questions and thanks for following along!

Just arrived back in the Vallarta area 10 days ago and am so relaxed here. Vallarta is such a beautiful small city and do not forget to check out places like Boca de Tomatlรกn, Mismaloya, and Sayulita!! Enjoy your time here!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Sayulita has ‘grown’ into something I barely recognize…but, to the south of Vallarta are the villages of Boca de Tomatlรกn and Mismaloya which are really cool. Boca is a staging area for water taxis to places like Yelapa and other points only accessible via water. About 90 min drive from Boca is Playa Mayto. A 4km stretch of beach great for fishing, swimming, playing in the sun, aiding baby sea turtles to water with the local rescue group….whatever! And hardly any people. Definitely check it out!! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€ Safe travels!
